Manou Gallo

Arrivée en Belgique en 1997, après avoir été chanteuse, bassiste (Zap Mama / les Tambours de Brazza), percussioniste et danseuse, Manou Gallo a maintenant son propre groupe : le « Djiboi », avec lequel elle interprète la musique africaine d'une façon très inventive et moderne. Pour la musique, elle a été inspirée par le Djiboi (les habitants de la Côte d'Ivoire sa patrie), mais aussi par sa culture musicale occidentale actuelle.

La combinaison de soul, funk et blues appartient au concept du « groove », un dénominateur commun. Une musique du monde chaude, pleine d'émotion et de sensibilité exprimées en langues diverses (Dida, en français et anglais), voilà tout Manou Gallo et le Djiboi!

En 2004, Manou a donné plus de 70 concerts dans une dizaine de pays européens et au Canada avec des points culminants comme : le Festival de Jazz Natt (Norvège), International festival of Africa (Allemagne), Couleur Café ( Belgique), Open Air Frauenfeld (Suisse), Francofolies de Spa (Belgique), Francofolies de Montréal (Canada), Nice Jazz Festival (France), Sunsplash Festival (Autriche), Mercat de Musica de Vic (Espagne), Nancy Jazz Pulsation (France), Mundial Festival (Hollande), le DOS Atlanticos Festival (Portugal), Kesse Festival (Espagne), etc...

Début 2005 elle a donné son premier concert AMÉRICAIN à Chicago et au Festival International de Louisiane, et a participé au grand festival de musique du monde ' OLLIN KAN " à Mexico.

After being a singer, bass player (Zap Mama / Tambours de Brazza), percussion player and dancer, Manou Gallo has now her own group: ‘Le Djiboi’. With this group, she performs African music in a very inventive and modern way. For the music, she has been inspired by the Djiboi (people of the Ivory Coast - Manou’s homeland), but also by her current western musical culture.

The combination of soul, funk and blues is within the concept of ‘groove’, a common denominator’. Hot world music full of emotion and sensitivities expressed in various languages (Dida, French and English)… that’s Manou Gallo & Le Djiboi.

During 2004, Manou gave more then 70 concerts in 10 different European countries + Canada with highlight moments at the Natt Jazz Festival (Norway), International Africa Festival (Germany), Couleur Café Festival (Belgium), (Switzerland), Francofolies de Spa (Belgium), Francofolies de Montréal (Canada), Nice Jazz Festival (France), Sunsplash Festival (Austria), Mercat de Musica de Vic (Spain), Nancy Jazz Pulsation (France), Mundial Festival (Holland), Dos Atlanticos Festival (Portugal), Kesse Festival (Spain), Dialecta Festival (Belgium), etc... Early 2005 she gave his first US concert in Chicago and at the Festival International of Louisiane. Also she participated at the big world music festival 'OLLIN KAN" in Mexico City.
