The three Finnish ladies with a French name are back, and they?re better than ever, ready to make good on their promise of chart usurpation. With production from MIA and Major Lazers right-hand-man SWITCH (who is also working on the new Christina Aguilera album), LCMDF are set to prove themselves as rightful pop luminaries.
As is evident from new single Something Golden, a song scattered with 90s-sounding dub beats and a howling chorus, the new direction transcends earlier comparisons such as CSS, Yelle, Robots in Disguise and Chicks On Speed, to adopt a much slicker, cleaner urbane sound. New cuts explore the ambiance and pop riffs that lurked under the jungle beats of earlier efforts and, as a result, produce a much more mature pop sound ?- though not without their signature quirky wavering vocals and scratchy overlays. To quote the band ?We?re doing some pretty special, twisted, pop stuff?.
Something Golden has already been snapped up by Kitsune Maison, and will be featured on their Maison 8 compilation, released on November 16th. The single, available on vinyl and CD as well as downloadable worldwide on December 7th, features remixes from Crystal Fighters, Anglo-Argentinian future disco dancers Heartbreak, and Renaissance Man, and will be accompanied by a slick, flashy special-FX laden video shot in LA.
