Wolfmother

Wolfmother is a Grammy Award-winning hard rock band formed in Erskineville, Sydney, Australia[1] in 2003. The band originally consisted of Andrew Stockdale (guitar, vocals), Chris Ross (bass, keyboards), and Myles Heskett(drums), though Ross and Heskett left the band in August 2008. With the original lineup Wolfmother released one album, Wolfmother, and six singles, the highest-charting of which was "Joker And the Thief" which reached #8 in Australia.

In 2004, Wolfmother began appearing at several high profile music events, such as Homebake and the Big Day Out. They also released their debut self-titled EP through Modular Recordings.

In 2005, the band made their way to LA, working alongside producer Dave Sardy (of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Marilyn Manson and Oasis fame) to record their much-hyped self-titled debut album, released in October 2005.

In 2006, Wolfmother played at the Roskilde Festival, quart festival, as well as T in The Park, Reading and Leeds festivals and Rock Werchter. In august of 2006, Wolfmother also played at the German Hurricane and Southside festivals, the Dutch Lowlands festival and Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. And in the Azkena Rock Festival '06 in Vitoria (Spain).
They also played together with Pearl Jam

Also in 2006, Wolfmother dominated the Australian Recording Industry Association awards (ARIAs), taking out Best Breakthrough Album, Best Rock Album, and Best Group.

In August 2008, after headlining the Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay, Australia, bass/keyboard player Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett resigned, leaving just singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale. Andrew plans to find new musicians before recording another album.

The track The Joker And The Thief has been featured in the games Need For Speed: Carbon, Rock Band, and MLB07: The Show.

New rumors have begun to surface about new band members. Joshua Kerr is supposedly replacing Chris Ross, while David "Acosta" Atkins is said to be replacing Myles Heskett.

Leur style est souvent decrit comme du rock Heavy ou psychedelique. Des comparaisons sont souvent effectuees avec des groupes comme Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin ou encore Deep Purple.

En 2004, Wolfmother commence a apparaitre a des festivals de plus en plus gros, comme Homebake ou encore Big Day Out. Ils ont fait paraitre leur premier EP eponyme via Modular Recordings en septembre (2004). Cet EP fut un succes avec des ventes totales depassant les 10000 exemplaires, ventes soutenues par une diffusion radio locale constante.

En 2005, le groupe continue sa route en direction de LA, travaille avec le producteur Dave Sardy (de Red Hot Chili Peppers, Marilyn Manson ou encore Oasis) afin d'enregistrer leur premier album eponyme deja tres attendu, qui sera diffuse en octobre.

Le premier single a paraitre sera "Mind's Eye/Woman"

L'album debute directement en place numero 3 dans les charts australiens et a longtemps defendu sa place dans le top 20.

Rolling Stone reprend actuellement Wolfmother comme un de ses "Top 10 des groupes a voir 2006."
